Painting with Watercolor (Teen and Adult)

This class meets on Mondays from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in our studios.  Learn the basics of one of our culture's most enduring art forms; watercolor painting. 

Watercolor is easy to set up and makes little mess.  We aim to enjoy the process in this class! Basic through advanced levels are welcome.  Linda will demonstrate the techniques and tools needed to create a spring-themed watercolor painting.

This course is developed for those wanting to learn.  Acorn to Oak Studios is a welcoming and comfortable studio.  Classes are small and perfect for lots of individual attention and instruction.  

A list of suggested supplies will be sent upon registration. Of course, you are free to bring what you are comfortable using! If you are unsure, Linda will be happy to guide you.

This class meets on Mondays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in our studios. Learn the basics of acrylic painting with Linda's relaxed and engaging instruction.

We aim to enjoy the process in this class! Basic through advanced levels are welcome.  Linda will demonstrate the techniques and tools needed to create a spring-themed acrylic painting.

Open Studio - Long Pose (Teen and Adult)

Bring your favorite materials to paint or draw from a live model with one long pose.  Adults and teens of all skill levels are welcome to participate.  This is a time honored way to find your unique style.  No instruction is provided, however our moderator will be able to guide you if you get stuck.

Open Studio - Quick Sketch (Adult)

Hone your figurative drawing skills with several poses by a professional figurative model. We will begin with shorter gestural poses and increase the duration, finishing with one longer pose. Bring your favorite materials to quickly draw or paint a variety of poses. Adults of all skill levels are welcome.

DEEP DIVE Anatomy Lab

Take your figure drawing to a higher level with our DEEP DIVE Anatomy Lab series.  These short sessions focus on challenging areas of the anatomy for figurative artists.   By gaining a greater understanding of what is below the surface, figure drawing becomes more natural looking.  The sessions are open to teens and adults of all skill levels.  They are designed to be “small bites” that can be useful immediately in our open studio sessions and other art work.  This deep dive approach will improve artist's perception and understanding of the form they are seeing.  Each session will begin by featuring an in-depth anatomical review of a specific area.  From there the session moves to hands-on drawing so what is learned may be incorporated into their technique to reinforce understaning.

This course meets Sunday mornings for three weeks and we will be working from classic references by Vanderpoel, Bridgeman, Barcsay and others. Figure drawing has been the basis of Western Art for centuries for a reason. A fundamental understanding of the human form opens all aspects of Art. Some of those aspects include mechanical, anatomical, psychological as well as gaining technical ability in handling materials and forms of expression.

This session will meet for three consecutive Wednesdays. For centuries artists have learned from a system of study based on learning from the Masters. In this course, masterpieces of Western Art will be introduced, studied, dissected and reproduced. The student will be introduced to technical aspects of materials and drawing as well as training the eye to see the subtleties that make the difference between a good painting and a masterpiece. Teens and adults of all skill levels are welcome to participate.
